I am writing to share that I’ll be hosting Canada’s first Ocean Hack Week this year at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, August 24-28 on Vancouver Island. Do you and any of your students have interest in a data science + oceanography learning workshop?

We’ll spend the week using a virtual coding environment to learn advanced data science skills, learn about massive open datasets (including acoustics!), and team up to “hack” any number of problems in ocean science. Past projects have included early echopype development, music production tools from acoustic data sources, and many other acoustic related projects. Plus you have the added benefit of being in one of the most spectacular settings overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
